China's Africa Engagement Offers Lessons for India
China's foreign minister recently visited three African countries to talk about how China and Africa can work together better.
They discussed things like building infrastructure, trading goods, and supporting each other in international matters.
China has been a big partner for Africa for many years, and this visit was part of their ongoing efforts.
The discussions included plans to improve a railway in Tanzania and to work together on global issues.
India is also interested in learning from China's approach to Africa to improve its own relationships with African countries.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi visited Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Lesotho from January 7-11, 2025.
Discussions focused on strengthening China-Africa cooperation, including trade, infrastructure, and global initiatives.
China committed $50 billion for the 2025-27 period under the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
The visits highlighted the importance of the Tanzania-Zambia Railway and China's four global initiatives.
India is studying China's approach to Africa to draw lessons for its own engagement with the continent.
