Veligonda Project to Complete by 2026
The Veligonda project is a big water project in Andhra Pradesh.
The minister, Nimmala Ramanaidu, said the government will finish it by 2026.
He went inside a tunnel to check the work.
The project needs more money and work on canals.
The previous government was criticized for saying the project was finished when it wasn't.
The current government has done some work, like building a road and fixing damage from a cyclone.
They are also doing work on tunnels and canals to make sure water reaches the farmers.
Water Resources minister Nimmala Ramanaidu committed to completing the Veligonda project by 2026.
The project requires additional expenditure of ₹3,000–₹4,000 crore for distributary canals.
The current government has completed 2,200 cubic metres of concrete work and 3 km of tunnel lining.
Tenders worth ₹456 crore for feeder canal lining and retaining wall construction have been finalised.
A 9.6-km permanent diversion road is being built due to submergence caused by the Nallamala Sagar.
