UAE Detects Missile Threat as Regional Tensions Rise

The United Arab Emirates warned people that its air defence systems had detected a possible missile threat.

People were told to go inside the closest safe building.

They were also told to stay away from windows, doors and open areas.

The warning applied to Dubai and other parts of the country.

Early announcements did not say where the threat came from or whether anything had hit the UAE.

Later, the Defence Ministry said two missiles had been launched from Iran.

It said one fell outside UAE waters and the other fell inside those waters.

The alert came one day after an agreement between Iran and the United States expired.

Officials told people to follow government updates and avoid rumours.
