Apple Releases iOS 26.1 Release Candidate, Public Update Imminent
Apple is about to release a new update for iPhones called iOS 26.1.
They just sent out a special test version called a Release Candidate, which means the real update will probably come out in early November.
This update lets you change how shiny the screen looks, makes alarms harder to accidentally turn off, and lets you turn off the camera shortcut on the lock screen if it bothers you.
You can also swipe to change songs in Apple Music more easily.
Your iPhone will also get small security fixes automatically.
iPhones from the iPhone 11 and newer will get this update.
Before you update, it's a good idea to save your information and make sure you have enough space on your phone.
Apple has released the Release Candidate (RC) build for iOS 26.1, signaling an imminent public release.
New features include customizable 'Liquid Glass' display controls, a 'Slide to Stop' option for alarms, and a toggle to disable the Lock Screen camera shortcut.
The update also brings swipe gestures to control music in Apple Music and enables automatic background security updates for enhanced protection.
Eligible devices include iPhone 11 models and newer, along with the two most recent iPhone SE models.
Users are advised to back up their devices and ensure sufficient storage space before updating.
