SEBI Proposes Revised IT Load Norms for Commodity Exchanges
SEBI, the market regulator, is updating the rules for how much computer power commodity exchanges and clearing corporations should have.
Currently, they need four times the peak load, but SEBI found a lot of this capacity was unused.
The new proposal says they only need twice the peak load.
The new rules also require better planning, testing, and alerts to ensure systems work well.
The public can share their thoughts on the changes until July 20.
SEBI proposed new IT system capacity guidelines for commodity exchanges and clearing corporations.
The proposed capacity is set at two times the projected peak load, down from the current four times.
The revisions address underutilization of existing IT infrastructure.
Entities must implement forward-looking capacity planning, stress testing, and automated alerts.
Public comments on the draft rules are due by July 20, 2025.
