ABS Mandatory for All Indian Two-Wheelers from 2026
India is making two-wheelers safer!
Starting in January 2026, all new bikes and scooters will need ABS, a system to help stop without skidding.
This is because many accidents happen when bikes brake suddenly.
Along with ABS, you'll get two helmets with every new bike.
This will cost more, possibly increasing prices, especially for the most affordable bikes.
The government hopes this will make roads safer for everyone.
All new two-wheelers in India will require ABS starting January 1, 2026.
The mandate applies to all two-wheelers, regardless of engine size.
MoRTH announced this safety regulation to reduce road accidents.
Dealerships will provide two BIS-certified helmets with each new two-wheeler.
Manufacturers are concerned about potential price increases.
