Census 2027 to Pave Way for Nationwide Delimitation
The government is planning a new headcount called the Census in 2027.
This count will help redraw the lines of voting areas across the country.
After the count, they'll decide how many people live in each area to make sure everyone's vote counts equally.
However, because it takes time to get all the numbers ready, it might be too late to use them for the next big election.
The government says this census is important because it helps make sure things are fair for everyone and can also make plans for future changes like a 'one nation-one election' system.
Census 2027, starting April 1, 2026, will be used for nationwide delimitation.
The reference date for the Census is March 1, 2027.
Final population data from the Census may take several years to be released.
Delimitation involves readjusting seats after each Census.
Delimitation could take time, potentially delaying the process for the 2029 elections.
