Shillong: Street Vendors Relocated from Khyndailad Area
The government of Meghalaya moved street vendors from a busy area in Shillong to a new spot.
This was because the High Court told them to organize street vendors and prevent traffic problems.
The government made a plan, talked to the vendors, and built new stalls for them.
They also gave money to help the vendors move.
This is part of a bigger plan to make sure all the street vendors have a place to sell things and to make the city work better.
Street vendors in Shillong were relocated from the congested Khyndailad area.
The relocation followed directives from the High Court of Meghalaya regarding street vending.
A survey identified 1,400 vendors, with 407 eligible for Certificates of Vending (CoV).
365 vending stalls were constructed in the MUDA parking lot for relocation.
Vendors are receiving a relocation package including financial support.
