Argentina to be Focal Theme Country at Kolkata Book Fair
Imagine a big party for books in Kolkata, India!
This year, the special guest country for this party, called the International Kolkata Book Fair, will be Argentina.
This is really cool because it's the very first time a country from outside the area of South Asia has been chosen as the main focus.
They hope this will help people in India and Argentina get to know each other's cultures better.
There will be writers and speakers from Argentina to share their ideas.
The party will happen from late January to early February in 2026.
There will also be a special part of the party just for talking about books, called the Kolkata Literature Festival, on January 24th and 25th.
Argentina will be the focal theme country for the 49th International Kolkata Book Fair in 2026.
This marks the first time a non-South Asian nation has been chosen as the theme country.
The event is scheduled to take place from January 22 to February 3, 2026, at Boimela Prangan in Salt Lake.
The Kolkata Literature Festival will be held on January 24 and 25, 2026, as part of the fair.
The organizers aim to strengthen bilateral cultural relationships between Argentina and India through this event.
