Filmmaker Chronicles Myanmar Youth Resistance
Tommaso Cotronei, a filmmaker from Italy, made a documentary called Myanmar Resistance.
It shows how young people in Myanmar are fighting against their government.
These young people, called Gen Z, are between 15 and 35 years old.
They used to have some freedom and were connected to the world, but then the military took over.
Many of them became guerrilla fighters and live in the forests.
They want to overthrow the military government.
Cotronei spent two months in Myanmar, living with these young fighters.
He made a film that shows their daily life, like sorting bullets and loading guns.
He didn't show big battles, but just how they live and fight.
The film was shown at a festival in Kolkata, India.
Other films from Myanmar were also shown there, telling stories of resistance.
The young fighters hope to get help from local people and old weapons from other countries.
Cotronei says powerful countries are fighting wars in other people's homes.
Tommaso Cotronei's documentary Myanmar Resistance premiered at the 12th Kolkata People’s Film Festival (KPFF).
The film focuses on Myanmar's Gen Z (ages 15-35) who have turned into guerrilla warriors against the military dictatorship.
Cotronei spent two months in Myanmar, living with the rebels in the Chin state's jungles.
The documentary depicts the daily life of the guerrillas and villagers, showing their struggles and resilience.
KPFF has been a platform for Myanmar filmmakers to share stories of resistance over the past three years.
