Panjab University Senate Polls Approved

Panjab University Senate Polls Approved

Two members of parliament, Vikramjit Singh Sahney and Malvinder Singh Kang, have asked the Vice President of India, who is also the Chancellor of Panjab University, to announce the dates for the university's Senate elections soon.

They are worried because the elections have been delayed, and this is causing concern among students and others involved with the university.

Sahney thanked the Vice President for stopping a plan that would have changed how the Senate is made up.

Kang also welcomed the government's decision to withdraw a notification about changing the Senate and Syndicate but said more needs to be done to protect the university's independence.

Both MPs care about the university and want to make sure it keeps running smoothly and fairly.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann celebrated the approval of the Senate election schedule as a victory for Punjab, praising the students, teachers, and faculty for their perseverance during the protests.

The elections are scheduled to be held from September 7, 2026, to October 4, 2026.
