Maharashtra SEC reverts to ink bottles for polls
The State Election Commission in Maharashtra, India, has decided to go back to using ink bottles instead of marker pens for marking voters in the upcoming zilla parishad and panchayat samiti polls.
This decision comes after there was a lot of criticism about the marker pens used in the local body elections.
The commission had started using marker pens in 2011 because they thought it would be easier, but people were not happy with them.
The ink in the bottles is special and cannot be washed off, just like the ink in the pens.
The commissioner, Dinesh Waghmare, explained that the bottles could sometimes break or spill, which caused problems.
So, they are going back to the old way of using ink bottles to make sure everything goes smoothly in the upcoming elections.
