Mumbai To Demolish Flyover for Coastal Road 2 Project
The city of Mumbai is planning to tear down a flyover (bridge) that was built just seven years ago.
This is because a new coastal road is being built, and the flyover is in the way.
They're going to replace it with a new bridge that has two levels.
The new road is supposed to help people travel more easily from one side of the city to another.
The demolition will cause major traffic problems for people in Goregaon and Malad, because the flyover provided direct access to the areas and brought down travel time to just ten minutes.
Mumbai's Veer Savarkar flyover, built in 2018, will be demolished.
The demolition is due to obstruct the Coastal Road 2 project.
The flyover provides direct access to Goregaon and Malad from the Western Express Highway.
A double-decker flyover is planned as a replacement, providing access between Mindspace and Dindoshi.
The Coastal Road 2 project aims to connect Versova with Dahisar and will cost Rs 20,000 crore.
