Borewells Supply Most Rural Drinking Water In Andhra Pradesh

Borewells Supply Most Rural Drinking Water In Andhra Pradesh

Many villages in Andhra Pradesh get their drinking water from borewells.

More than three out of every four rural settlements depend on them.

The state needs more water each day than it currently receives.

Borewells provide the biggest part of the available supply.

This is especially important in the dry Rayalaseema region.

However, water levels in some borewells have dropped.

Some villages have had to lower their pipes to reach the water.

Officials and residents are concerned that relying too much on borewells could make future water supplies less reliable.
