Punjab Employees Consider Political Campaign Over DA Arrears

Punjab Employees Consider Political Campaign Over DA Arrears

Punjab government employees are upset about unpaid or unimplemented Dearness Allowance, called DA.

Their union says it may organise political activities in districts.

Employees could also discuss which party to support in the 2027 election.

Union leader Sukhchain Singh Khaira says the DA issue is still unresolved.

The employees have announced a large rally in Sangrur for October 10.

They have also warned that they might hold a statewide shutdown if their demands are not met.

Political analyst Ashutosh Kumar says an organised campaign could matter for the ruling AAP.

The union has not formally chosen or backed a political party.

The article does not include the government's response.
