Shiv Sena Corporator Ramesh Mhatre Released on Conditional Bail
Somebody hurt doctors at a hospital in Dombivli, and the police believed Ramesh Mhatre was involved.
Mhatre is a city official for a political group called Shiv Sena.
He was kept in a jail called Aadharwadi while the case was going on.
A very important court, the Bombay High Court, said he could leave jail, but only if he followed special rules.
He was set free on Saturday evening and went to a coastal state called Goa.
The rules say he must stay outside the state of Maharashtra until the police finish their report, called a chargesheet.
He also has to visit a police station in Goa three times a week to check in.
He gave up his passport and paid a guarantee, called surety, so the court knows he will follow the rules.
Mhatre says he trusts the court and will accept whatever decision it makes.
The next big court hearing will be on September 11.
Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) corporator Ramesh Mhatre was released from Aadharwadi Jail in Kalyan on Saturday evening after the Bombay High Court granted him conditional bail.
Mhatre left for Goa after his release around 4.45 pm and will stay at Anjuna along with three co-accused supporters.
Bail conditions require him to remain outside Maharashtra until the chargesheet is filed and to report to Anjuna Police Station three times a week.
His passport was deposited and surety furnished; the High Court had earlier stayed his lower-court bail, calling the order 'perverse'.
