India-Japan Maritime Pact Expands Naval Cooperation and Ship Repair

India and Japan made an agreement to work more closely at sea.

Their naval forces will share information and improve their understanding of what happens in surrounding waters.

They will also cooperate during search-and-rescue missions.

The two countries want to help each other during natural disasters and other emergencies.

They plan to protect important sea routes used by ships.

Sailors from both countries may visit each other's naval facilities and take part in exercises together.

Personnel exchanges and logistical support are also planned.

The agreement provides a framework for these activities, including ship repair cooperation.
