Porsche Reverses EV Plans, Keeps Combustion Engines for 718 Models
Porsche, the luxury carmaker, is changing its plans about electric vehicles.
Instead of only making electric cars, they will keep making powerful cars with regular engines in their 718 models, like the Boxster and Cayman.
This is because not as many people want to buy electric cars as Porsche expected.
They might even use the strong engine from the 911.
Porsche also stopped some of its electric car projects, like a big electric SUV.
This change lets Porsche sell different types of cars: gas, hybrid, and electric ones.
Porsche is shifting its focus from an all-electric strategy.
Top versions of the 718 Boxster and Cayman will continue with combustion engines.
The 718 models might use a flat-six engine from the 911 Carrera GTS.
Porsche cited reduced demand for electric vehicles as a key reason for the change.
The company is aiming for a mix of combustion, hybrid, and electric vehicles.
