India responds to Nepal’s climate compensation demand after floods

Nepal experienced devastating floods and asked major polluting countries to help pay for climate-related damage.

Nepal’s Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal made this call for compensation.

India said climate change is a problem that affects everyone.

India also said richer, developed countries should lead efforts to address it.

India believes countries should have different responsibilities based on their abilities and past contributions.

India said it quickly supported Nepal after the floods.

It promised to keep helping Nepal recover and rebuild.

Nepal later issued a clarification about its foreign minister’s remarks.
