Lakshadweep Jetty Project in Mangaluru Delayed by Approvals
Imagine a plan to build a special dock, called a jetty, to help ships travel between a city in India and some islands.
The government approved the project and even gave money to start it three years ago.
However, the project hasn't started because it needs permission from different government departments, like for the environment.
A member of parliament is now asking why the project is delayed.
Once finished, this dock is supposed to make it easier to transport goods and people, helping the economy and tourism.
A Lakshadweep Jetty project in Mangaluru, approved in 2022, faces delays.
Rs65 crore in first-phase funding was released in July 2022 under the Sagarmala 1 program.
Construction hasn't started due to missing environmental and state-level clearances.
MP Brijesh Chowta raised the issue in Parliament, blaming state government delays.
The jetty aims to boost cargo handling, passenger connectivity, and tourism.
