Bengal School Job Scam Accused Seeks Approver Status

Santu Gangopadhyay is accused in a school hiring corruption case in West Bengal.

He wrote to the Central Bureau of Investigation, or CBI, asking to become an approver.

An approver is someone who tells investigators what they know about a crime.

Gangopadhyay says he was afraid to speak earlier because of threats.

He claims he and another accused person delivered money to a senior Trinamool Congress leader.

He also alleges that they were criticized for not collecting enough money from teacher applicants.

Gangopadhyay is currently out on bail.

He says he is still receiving threats and wants protection for his family.
