Central Gujarat Gram Panchayats Declared 'Samras' Ahead of Elections
In Central Gujarat, several village councils, called gram panchayats, were decided without anyone having to vote.
This happened because no one else ran for the positions.
BJP leaders, who are like important people in the area, celebrated these unopposed wins.
The leaders encouraged villages to do this, and even gave money as a reward.
This way of choosing the council members is called 'Samras'.
It is thought to reduce any bad feelings between people in the villages and make them work together.
Several gram panchayats in Central Gujarat were declared 'Samras', meaning they won without contest.
BJP leaders felicitated the winners in various districts.
In Vadodara district, Por gram panchayat and Vacchesar gram panchayat were declared 'Samras'.
Three gram panchayats in Padra taluka were declared 'Samras' following an appeal from BJP MLA Chaitanyasinh Zala.
Zala offered an incentive of Rs 11 lakh from his MLA fund to villages opting for 'Samras'.
