Scientists Examine Mauritia as Believers Link It to Lemuria

Mauritia is a piece of ancient land that is now under the Indian Ocean.

It lies between India and Madagascar.

Scientists think it sank when a much larger supercontinent broke apart.

A different idea called Lemuria was suggested in 1846.

It was meant to explain why lemur fossils were found in India and Madagascar but not Africa.

Some people now say Lemuria and Mauritia were the same place.

Other stories claim Lemurians had unusual bodies, alien DNA, or advanced technology.

Some even say a nuclear war destroyed them.

Scientists have found no evidence that a civilization ever lived on Mauritia.
