Panel Flags Issues with Education Schemes in India
A committee of people in the government is checking up on two programs.
One program called One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) is supposed to help about 7,000 schools and colleges get access to online resources.
However, almost half of them haven't gotten the help yet.
The committee wants to know why and how to speed things up.
The second program is the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), which was created last year with a budget, but they haven't spent any of the money yet.
The committee wants to know what's going on with that program too.
A parliamentary panel has noted that around 4,000 institutions have not received benefits from the One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) scheme.
The Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth and Sports, headed by Digvijaya Singh, directed an update on the ONOS scheme's reach.
The committee's recommendation called for the accelerated implementation of the ONOS scheme.
The Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) Act, 2023 was implemented but did not spend any budgeted funds.
The committee seeks an update on the ANRF’s functioning and further initiatives.
