Surendranath Law College Lets All Students Sit Exams

Surendranath Law College Lets All Students Sit Exams

Surendranath Law College first said many students could not take their exams because they had not attended enough classes.

The college said only a small number of students had reached the required 65 percent attendance.

Students disagreed with how attendance was recorded and alleged that the records had been manipulated.

The vice-principal denied that accusation.

Students also protested against the enforcement of the attendance rules.

During the protest, the vice-principal was detained for 23 hours and allegedly made to sign a resignation letter.

She asked Calcutta University to postpone the exams, but the university rejected the request.

The college has now said that all 700 students may fill out forms and take the exams.

The forms must be completed on September 16 and 17, before exams begin on September 28.
