CPM Seeks Voter Revision Centre in Every Khammam Division
The CPM held a protest in Khammam about voter-list corrections.
Khammam has 60 divisions, but only 27 voter revision centres were set up.
The CPM said this made it hard for people to reach the centres.
It said older people were especially affected.
The party also said 80,663 voters had received notices, leading to long queues.
Uploading voter photographs was reportedly taking a long time because of network problems.
The CPM asked officials to send Booth Level Officers to every home and help people submit documents.
The Municipal Commissioner said more centres might be added.
The CPM protested at the Khammam Municipal Corporation office, seeking one voter revision centre in each of the city’s 60 divisions.
The party questioned how 27 centres could serve voters across all 60 divisions after the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
CPM leader Y Vikram said senior citizens and other voters were facing difficulties because some centres were nearly three kilometres from polling booths.
The party claimed 80,663 notices had been issued in the Khammam Assembly constituency, causing queues and delays.
The Municipal Commissioner said efforts would be made to increase the number of voter revision centres.
