Gurmmeet Singh Discusses Mirzapur's Box Office And Future
Gurmmeet Singh directed Mirzapur: The Movie.
The film was first known as a streaming franchise, but it has now done well in cinemas.
Singh says it has earned more than Rs 300 crore.
He believes fans came because they already liked the characters and wanted to see them on a big screen.
The filmmakers also tried to make the story feel new while keeping familiar elements.
Some people criticize Mirzapur for showing too much violence.
Singh says the story shows that violent crime brings sadness and loss, not success.
He is not planning a sequel right away, but he has several new projects coming.
Director Gurmmeet Singh says Mirzapur: The Movie has crossed Rs 300 crore in theatres.
He says the film's theatrical concept was discussed after Mirzapur received a strong response at the MAMI festival in 2018.
Singh describes the film as a fresh story that also preserves the franchise's nostalgia and familiar characters.
Responding to criticism that Mirzapur glorifies violence, Singh says its characters face loss, heartbreak and grief rather than rewards.
Singh says a sequel is not an immediate plan and is preparing Pan Parda Zarda plus projects through Cheetah on the Moon.
