Tamil Nadu Governor Assents to 12 Assembly Bills

Tamil Nadu’s Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar approved most of the Bills passed by the state Assembly.

He approved 12 out of 13 Bills.

One Bill, about private universities, was sent to the President for consideration instead.

The approved Bills cover topics such as MLA vehicles, liquor taxes and recruitment for city and town bodies.

They also include changes involving the DTCP and an investment promotion commission.

The Bills were passed during the first Assembly session of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam government.

That 28-day Budget session ended on September 8.

The governor’s quick decisions were described by a source as a positive start to relations between the state and central governments.
