Mission Samudra Aims to Drive Keralam’s Port-Led Growth

Mission Samudra Aims to Drive Keralam’s Port-Led Growth

Keralam plans to start a project called Mission Samudra.

Chief Minister V D Satheesan says it will help the state make more use of its coastline and ports.

The revised budget for 2026-27 sets aside Rs 400 crore to begin the project.

Twelve government departments are expected to work together.

The plan links ports with roads, railways, waterways, air cargo and logistics centres.

It also aims to support shipbuilding, seafood businesses, cruise tourism and job training.

The state has a 600-kilometre coastline, two international ports, a container terminal and 18 minor ports.

Satheesan says success should mean sustainable growth, good jobs and opportunities for everyone, not just more ships and containers.
