Fish Traders Relocated to Crawford Market
A group of fish traders who were selling their goods on a busy road in Dadar, Mumbai, have been moved to a new place called Crawford Market.
This happened because the road was very crowded, and people living nearby were unhappy.
The court said the traders should move, and now they are temporarily in the basement of Crawford Market.
Later, they will move to a permanent spot in the same market.
The traders are happy because they wanted to stay close to their usual area, and the people living nearby are happy because the road is less crowded now.
37 fish traders from Dadar relocated to Crawford Market following a Bombay High Court order.
The relocation was temporary to the basement of Block 3, with a permanent move to Block 1 expected in 1-1.5 years.
Residents of Senapati Bapat Road had protested against the traders occupying the busy road, causing traffic chaos.
The BMC initially planned to move the traders to Wadala or Airoli but agreed to Crawford Market after the court order.
Civic activists hailed the relocation as a victory for residents, emphasizing the need for strict enforcement to prevent future encroachments.
