RBI launches surveys ahead of October monetary policy meeting

RBI launches surveys ahead of October monetary policy meeting

The Reserve Bank of India is asking households about prices and the economy.

One survey will ask people how prices have changed and how they may change in the future.

Another survey will ask people in cities how they feel about jobs, income, spending and prices.

A similar survey will ask people in rural areas the same kinds of questions.

The city survey will cover 19 cities.

The rural survey will cover 31 states and union territories.

The RBI will use the answers as information for its monetary policy decisions.

The surveys are being conducted before the RBI’s meeting scheduled for October 4.
