Supreme Court Halts TDR Release for Bangalore Palace Grounds
Imagine a big fight over some land near Bangalore Palace.
The government wanted to give the royal family certificates that are like money for the land.
But, the Supreme Court said, "Hold on!".
The court wants to double-check if giving those certificates is fair, especially since they are worth a lot of money.
The government said that the certificates' value is too high.
The court said the certificates can't be used or sold right now, and will make a final decision later after looking at the case again.
The Supreme Court froze the use and transfer of TDR certificates related to Bangalore Palace grounds.
The court's order was in response to the State of Karnataka's concerns about the May 22 order.
TDR certificates worth over ₹3,000 crore were initially slated for release to the legal heirs.
The review petition filed by the State will be heard in the week of July 21.
The main appeal in the Bangalore Palace grounds case is scheduled for August 18.
