Delhi High Court Issues Notices On Ride-Hailing Women’s Safety Measures

The Delhi High Court is asking ride-hailing companies and government authorities to respond to concerns about women’s safety.

The case was brought as a public interest lawsuit by Aditya Sehgal.

It covers app-based cabs, bike taxis and other ride services.

The petitioner says drivers may not be checked properly at night.

The petition asks companies to make sure the driver and vehicle match the information shown in the app.

It also seeks quick help through SOS alerts and 24-hour emergency control centres.

Other ideas include warnings about major route changes, driver training and verified women drivers.

The court has asked the parties to submit their replies before the next hearing.
