RBI: Rupee Depreciation Due to Market Forces, No Target Level
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor, Sanjay Malhotra, said the RBI does not set a target for the value of the Indian rupee.
The recent decrease in the rupee's value is mainly because of increasing demand for dollars, influenced by capital flows and current account trends.
The RBI is hopeful that a good trade deal with the US will help reduce the pressure on India's current account.
The RBI's main goal is to keep the financial system stable, and it lets the markets decide most things while also regulating when needed.
