Akhil Gogoi Threatens Mass Movement Over Flood Aid

Akhil Gogoi is protesting because he says families affected by floods need more help and need it quickly.

He wants the Assam chief minister to promise when the money will be paid.

He has asked for different amounts of assistance for families in three districts.

He also wants a CBI inquiry into the circumstances that led to this year’s floods.

Gogoi says he will stop protesting if the chief minister makes the requested announcements by October 7.

If not, he says he will start a larger public movement.

Gogoi said he was upset by what he described as the chief minister ridiculing and insulting him.

The report does not include a response from the chief minister.
