French Rafales Intercept Russian FSB-Linked Aircraft Over Baltic Sea

French fighter jets were sent to watch the skies around several Baltic countries.

They flew over Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia as part of a NATO mission.

They also helped Poland watch its eastern border for drones or missiles that might enter without permission.

The jets had to be ready quickly during some weeks.

They practiced with other aircraft and trained to stop drones.

They flew 540 hours and carried out 39 real interception missions.

One Russian plane they intercepted was a special Tu-214 aircraft connected by aviation assessments to Russia’s security leadership.

Photos also showed that the aircraft had a system designed to protect it from some missiles.
