Ujjain’s Mahakaleshwar Temple Prepares for Shravan Processions
The month of Shravan is a very holy time for people who worship Lord Shiva.
In the city of Ujjain, a big temple called Mahakaleshwar will welcome about 400,000 people every day.
The temple will hold special processions, where the statue of Lord Mahakal will walk through the city on certain Mondays.
These processions start on August 3 and end on September 7.
The walk is about 1.5 kilometres long and has bright LED chariots, tribal dancers, and medical help ready.
The temple opens very early, at 3 a.m., and has special prayers and a special bath for the statue.
All of this is to bring blessings to the many people who visit.
