Varshney Reappointed as SEBI Whole-Time Member Through 2029

Kamlesh Chandra Varshney will continue working as a senior member of India’s market regulator, SEBI.

The government approved his reappointment.

His current term was expected to end on September 19, 2026.

He can now remain in the role until August 4, 2029, unless the government changes the order earlier.

Varshney joined SEBI as a whole-time member in September 2023.

He previously worked on tax policy for the Government of India.

His continued service is considered useful while SEBI deals with questions about a new closing auction session.

He has also taken enforcement action over alleged manipulation of that session.
