SCBA President Demands Judicial Probe into Police Action on Student Protesters
The president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, Vikas Singh, wrote to the Prime Minister and Home Minister asking for a judicial inquiry into police actions during student protests in New Delhi.
The protests were about issues like examination paper leaks and irregularities.
The SCBA president said the police used too much force, hurting students, lawyers, journalists, and doctors.
He also mentioned that police officers were not wearing name badges and that male officers hit female protesters and minors.
The SCBA chief wants the Delhi Police commissioner suspended and for the government to fix the problems with examinations.
SCBA president Vikas Singh wrote to PM Modi and Home Minister Shah seeking a judicial inquiry into police action during student protests.
Allegations include unprovoked and disproportionate police violence, including lathi-charge, tear gas, and assaults on peaceful protesters, journalists, and medical personnel.
Police allegedly targeted non-protesting medical teams and attacked injured patients.
Repeated examination paper leaks have eroded confidence in public institutions and pushed students into despair.
Demands include a judicial commission, suspension of the Delhi Police commissioner, FIRs against responsible officials, and administrative accountability for examination lapses.
