Carborundum Universal Q2 Profit Drops 35% Due to Russian Sanctions
Carborundum Universal, a company that makes things like abrasives and ceramics, had a tough second quarter.
Their profits went down by a third compared to last year.
This happened mostly because their branch in Russia had problems making money due to international sanctions.
Even though their overall sales went up a little bit, the issues in Russia hurt their final profit.
The company also saw a drop in profits for the first half of the year.
Some parts of their business, like ceramics and abrasives, did grow in sales, but the problems with the Russian subsidiary were a big setback for their overall financial results.
Carborundum Universal's Q2 consolidated profit after tax (PAT) fell 35% to ₹75 crore from ₹116 crore year-on-year.
The decline in profit was attributed to lower profitability from its Russian subsidiary affected by sanctions.
Consolidated revenue for Q2 increased by 1.9% to ₹1,287 crore from ₹1,209 crore.
For the first half of FY26, consolidated PAT was ₹136 crore, down from ₹229 crore in the previous year.
The company's ceramics and abrasives segments reported revenue growth of 7.8% and 7.4% respectively.
