Gold Demand to Fall in 2026
India's demand for gold is expected to decrease in 2026.
This is because the price of gold has been going up a lot, making it harder for people to buy gold jewellery.
Even though more people are investing in gold, the overall demand is still expected to drop.
The World Gold Council says that gold prices have increased by 76.5% in 2025, which is much higher than the increase in the stock market.
People are also not selling as much old gold jewellery as they usually do, because they think the price will keep going up.
So, even though some people are buying more gold for investment, the total amount of gold demanded in India is likely to be less in 2026.
India's gold demand projected to fall in 2026, likely between 600-700 metric tons.
Jewellery demand fell 24% in 2025 to 430.5 metric tons, the lowest in nearly three decades.
Investment demand rose 17% in 2025 to 280.4 metric tons, the highest since 2013.
Gold ETF inflows jumped 283% in 2025 to a record 429.6 billion rupees.
Domestic gold prices surged 76.5% in 2025, while the Nifty 50 rose 10.5%.
