Ousted PM Hasina Accuses Muhammad Yunus of Fomenting Unrest and Sponsoring Extremists
A former leader of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, who is currently in exile, has strongly criticized the current leader, Muhammad Yunus.
She believes Yunus is responsible for causing trouble and supporting bad people, including extremists.
Hasina also said that Yunus's unfriendly words towards India have hurt the relationship between the two countries and made the whole region unstable.
She thinks that many people, like the Nobel Peace Prize winner Yunus, are not seeing the problems clearly and that his time in charge has been full of chaos and crime.
Hasina also mentioned that when she was in power, she tried to build a strong partnership with India, but now that is weakening.
She left Bangladesh because she felt it was too dangerous for her and her supporters to stay.
She is still facing a trial for serious crimes, and the court's decision is expected soon, with the prosecutor asking for a death sentence.
Ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina accused Muhammad Yunus of fomenting unrest and sponsoring extremists in Bangladesh.
Hasina claimed Yunus's 'hostile rhetoric towards India' has damaged bilateral relations and destabilized the region.
She alleged that Yunus has overseen 'concerning radicalisation' and facilitated attacks on religious minorities.
Hasina stated her departure from Bangladesh was a 'matter of necessity' to avoid violence against herself and supporters.
The accusations come as Hasina awaits a verdict next week in her 'crimes against humanity' trial, for which a death penalty has been demanded.
