Cash, Envelopes Seized Ahead of Pune Polls
The Pune Police and the Election Commission’s Flying Squad found a lot of cash, empty envelopes, and a list of voters in two big cars in the Yewalewadi area.
They think the money might have been meant to give to voters to influence the upcoming city elections.
Now, they are trying to find out where the money came from and who it was supposed to go to.
This is important because it's against the rules to give money to voters during elections.
Pune Police and Election Commission’s Flying Squad seized Rs 1 lakh, 300+ empty envelopes, and a voter list from two SUVs in Yewalewadi.
The seizure occurred at 9 PM on Tuesday ahead of the civic polls.
An investigation has been initiated to determine the source of the cash and the intended recipient.
The items suggest the cash was meant to be distributed to voters.
