Nvidia Chips Worth Over $1 Billion Smuggled into China
Imagine some super-smart computer chips, like the brains of a robot, made by a company called Nvidia.
The US government doesn't want China to have the newest, most powerful ones.
But between April and June 2025, over a billion dollars worth of these restricted chips were secretly brought into China.
They went through places like Southeast Asia, and then were sold on a hidden market.
Some companies are even fixing these special chips without permission.
The US is trying to stop this, by maybe keeping a closer eye on how chips are shipped or even putting trackers in them.
This is all happening because China wants to make its own super-smart technology, and the US wants to slow them down.
Over $1 billion worth of Nvidia AI chips were smuggled into China between April and June 2025.
Smuggled chips included advanced models like B200, H100, and H200, banned from export to China.
Chips were routed through Southeast Asia and sold via grey-market networks.
Unauthorised repair shops in Shenzhen are servicing the smuggled chips.
US officials are reviewing enforcement options, and lawmakers seek stricter export controls.
