Two MLAs suspended for Assam winter session
Two members of the opposition in the Assam Assembly were suspended for the rest of the winter session.
This happened because a committee found that one MLA, Nurul Huda, attacked the Deputy Speaker, and another MLA, Sherman Ali Ahmed, used bad words against him.
The suspension was recommended by a committee and approved by the Assembly, even though the Congress party, which the MLAs belong to, disagreed.
They said there was no video evidence of the attack and that Huda was just protesting.
The Speaker said the committee's report is final and should not be questioned.
The winter session started on November 25, 2025, and will end on November 29, 2025.
Two opposition MLAs, Nurul Huda and Sherman Ali Ahmed, were suspended for the remaining winter session of the Assam Assembly.
The suspension was recommended by the Privilege Committee for mistreatment towards Deputy Speaker Numal Momin.
Huda was accused of attacking Momin, while Ahmed used unparliamentary words against the Deputy Speaker.
The Congress party opposed the suspension, demanding video evidence and denying the allegations.
