Ganesh Chaturthi: Mumbai Mayor Installs Student-Crafted Eco-Friendly Idol
Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde welcomed Ganesh Chaturthi at her home in Mumbai.
She installed a small Ganesh idol made from Shadu clay.
The idol was made by Ritik Paswan, a second-grade student.
Ritik had given the idol to the Mayor the week before.
The Mayor invited Ritik and his mother to the prayer ceremony.
The celebration used flowers and other materials that are better for the environment.
Tawde also reviewed places where Ganesh idols could be immersed after the festival.
Officials prepared 358 artificial immersion ponds for smaller idols.
