IIT Madras Launches Accelerator for Phytomedicine Innovations

IIT Madras has started a new program to help turn plant-based medicine ideas into products people can buy.

The program is connected to a research centre focused on growing plant cells and making useful herbal ingredients.

It is meant to help researchers take promising work from the laboratory toward the marketplace.

Education Minister Prahlad Joshi launched the program on Thursday.

The centre was set up in June to support the production of herbal materials at a larger scale.

It also works on enriched herbal extracts and valuable plant chemicals.

During his visit, Joshi toured several research facilities at IIT Madras Research Park.

He also met startups, including Mindgrove Technologies and Agnikul Cosmos.
