West Bengal Launches Parking App Ahead of Durga Puja
West Bengal is making it easier for people to find parking in Kolkata.
A new phone app will show where empty parking spots are in real time.
Motorists can also pay for parking using the app, so they don’t have to look around.
Starting September 1, cars parked in no‑parking zones will be fined by the police.
The government has already identified 15,000 official parking spots and 4,000 spots that are not yet part of the system.
They will invite new companies to run the parking places and give attendants ID cards and uniforms to keep things honest.
The app will be ready before the big Durga Puja festival, when many people travel to the city.
West Bengal government will launch a mobile app to show real‑time vacant parking slots in Kolkata before Durga Puja.
The app will also allow digital payment of parking fees to reduce search time and curb illegal parking.
From September 1, vehicles parked outside designated zones will face penalties enforced by Kolkata Police.
About 15,000 authorized parking spaces and 4,000 unmonitored sites have been identified for the new system.
Fresh tenders will be issued for operating parking facilities, with attendants issued ID cards and uniforms for transparency.
