India-China Border Trade to Resume via Nathu La Pass
India and China are going to start trading again at a mountain pass called Nathu La.
The trade had stopped for almost six years because of the pandemic.
The Sikkim state in India has finished building the needed checkpoints and will meet with Chinese traders on August 1.
About 30 people from each country will meet in the middle of the pass to start trading.
The goal is to help people who live near the border earn more money and to make the area a better place to visit.
Border trade between India and China will resume at Nathu La Pass on August 1 after nearly six years of suspension.
Sikkim Commerce and Industries Department Secretary Karma Doma confirmed all preparations, including an Integrated Check Post and immigration facilities, are complete.
Around 30 delegates from each side will meet at No Man’s Land before trade officially begins.
The reopening aims to improve livelihoods, boost local economy, strengthen tourism, and promote socio‑economic development in border areas.
The resumption follows earlier limited trade through Shipki-La Pass in Himachal Pradesh.
