Suvendu Adhikari Launches 50 AC Buses, Plans 1000 More
Suvendu Adhikari, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, launched 50 new AC buses in Kolkata.
These buses are environment-friendly, with 43 running on CNG and 7 on electricity.
He also announced plans to introduce 1000 more such buses in the next year.
The buses will operate on 24 different routes.
The state government is prioritizing the procurement of more electric and CNG vehicles to keep the city clean and safe.
The Chief Minister also mentioned that discussions have been held with the Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs about rolling out additional electric buses, with the state government bearing 40% of the cost.
Additionally, the jetties under the Transport Department will be revamped, and luxurious boats will be introduced as part of the Destination Sundarbans project.
